CBN Policy on PTA, BTA, school fees & medicals – all charges stopped

CBN has issued a new Policy on PTA, BTA, School fees and Medicals.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has stop all charges on the sale of foreign exchange for invisible transactions such as Personal Travel Allowance (PTA), Business Travel Allowance (BTA), school tuitions and medical bills payment abroad

CBN Director signed the circular that was issued to all authorised dealers, Trade and Exchange Department. W.D Gotring stated that charging of commissions on retail foreign exchange transactions has been abolished. He said that compliance to the directive is with immediate effect.

How to pay school fees abroad from Nigeria

According to the Nation, the inter-bank Foreign Exchange Market has received $210 million from the CBN to meet customers’ requests in various segments of the market.

The CBN offered $100 million to authorised dealers in the wholesale segment of the market, while the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) segment got the sum of $55 million.

The figures also indicated that customers needing foreign exchange for invisibles such as tuition fees, medical payments and BTA, among others, were also allocated the sum of $55 million.

The bank’s Acting Director, Corporate Communications Department, Isaac Okorafor, assured Nigerians that the bank will continue to intervene in the interbank foreign exchange market, in line with its pledge to sustain liquidity in the market and maintain stability.

He said the body will continue to support the CBN to sustain ongoing stability in the forex market even as it is planning to float a new website that will present objective position of the market.

QUALIFICATIONS:

For Post I:

Candidate for the post must have been inducted and should possess a good University Degree of MBBS or M.B. Ch.B or equivalent qualification registrable with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

For Post II (a):

Candidate must possess a good University Degree in Medical Laboratory Science and registered with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria.

For Post II (b):

Candidate must possess a good University Degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution in relevant discipline and registered with the relevant professional body.

For Post II (c):

Candidate must possess a good University Degree from a recognized institution.

For Post II (d):

Candidate must possess a good University Degree from a recognized institution.

For Post II (e):

Candidate must possess a good University Degree from a recognized institution.

For Post II (f):

Candidate must possess a good University Degree in Dietetics from a recognized Institution.

For Post II (g):

Candidate must possess Higher National Diploma in Dental Hygiene from an approved school of Dental Therapy.

For Post II (h):

Candidate must possess Higher National Diploma or University Degree from approved school of Dental Technology or University.

FUNCTIONS:

For Post (I):

Successful candidates will be required to perform the duties of House Officer and other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department from time to time.

For Post (II) a – h:

Successful Candidates will be expected to perform all relevant duties in their respective departments including any periodic ones as may be assigned by the Heads of Departments.

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE:

For Post I:

The appointment will be for twelve (12) months only and successful Medical House Officer will be expected to rotate for three (3) months each through the departments of Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Successful Dental House Officers will be expected to rotate for three (3) months each through the departments of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Preventive Dentistry, Restorative Dentistry and Child Dental Health.

Other conditions of service are similar to those obtainable in the Federal Public Service and University Teaching Hospitals.

For Post II:

These are similar to those obtainable in the Federal Public Service and Federal Tertiary Health institution in Nigeria.
