2018 Federal Govt Scholarship Awards for Nigerian Tertiary Institutions

We’ve earlier released an article on 2018/2019 Bilateral Education Agreement (Bea) Scholarship Award Interview by the Federal Ministry of Education, Federal Scholarship Board. In line with that we’re adding; The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu invites applications from qualified Nigerian students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions to participate in the 2017/2018 selection interviews for scholarship awards tenable in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
Application forms are available online at www.education.gov.ng  and can be completed and printed by prospective candidates for endorsement by their HOD and Registrars of their institutions

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

UNIVERSITY UNDERGRADUATE:
All applicants must be full-time students in their second year of study and above in Federal or State Universities, they must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0 on a 5.0 point scale or its equivalent in the previous academic year’s examinations.
ii. HIGHER NATIONAL DILPLOMA (HND):
All applicants must be full-time students in their second year of study in any of the Federal or State Polytechnics or Monotechnics, they must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 on a 4 scale or its equivalent in the previous academic year’s examinations.
iii. NIGERIAN CERTIFICATE IN EEDUCATION (NCE):
All applicants must be full-time students in their second year of study and above in any Federal or State Colleges of Education and they must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.5 on a 4 point scale, or its equivalent in the previous academic year’s examinations.

POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP:
Applicants must be registered full-time students of Federal or State universities and must have a minimum of second class Honours (Upper Division) in their 1st degree.

  1. METHOD OF APPLICATION:
    Completed application forms should be printed and submitted at the various interview centers alongside the following photocopies:
    (i) Letter of admission to the institution
    (ii) Current Course Registration Form
    (iii) Student Identity Card
    (iv) Last sessional CGPA result
    (v) Letter of identification from State/Local Government of origin
    (vi) Two passport-size photographs with name fully written at the back
    (a) Interview Dates:
    Northern States: (North East, North West & North Central): 19th – 23th March, 2018
    Southern States: (South East, South West & South South): 26th – 30th March, 2018
    (b) Interview venue: Federal Unity Colleges in each State Capital including FCT.
    Where there is no Unity School in the State Capital, candidates should contact: The Secretary, State Scholarship Board in that State.

Note:
i) All qualified candidates who have completed their prescribed application forms for the Nigerian Awards scholarship should attend selection interviews as scheduled in paragraph 4 above;
ii) Application forms that are incorrect, incompletely filled or without the necessary documents will not be processed;
iii) All Application forms must be duly signed and stamped by their HOD and Registrar
Candidates must attend interviews with the following:
a. Writing materials such as pen, HB pencil and eraser.
b. Originals of certificates for screening
iv) Interview starts by 8.00a.m, daily.
v) Candidates are advised to adhere strictly to the interview schedule.

2018/2019 Bilateral Education Agreement (Bea) Scholarship Award Interview

FEDERAL SCHOLARSHIP BOARD

 

The Honourable Minister of Education (HME), Mallam Adamu Adamu, hereby invite interested and qualified Nigerians to participate in the 2018/2019 nomination interview for bilateral education agreement scholarship award for:

  1. Undergraduate studies tenable in Russia, Morocco, Algeria, Serbia, Hungary, Egypt, Tunisia, Turkey, Cuba, Rumania, Ukraine, Japan, Macedonia; and
  2. Postgraduate studies tenable in Russia (for those whose first degrees were obtained from Russia), China, Hungary, Serbia, Turkey, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, etc.
  3. All qualified candidates are advised to:
  4. Visit federal ministry of education website; www.education.gov.ng and click on READ MORE on Federal Scholarship Board ICON on the home page.
  5. Read guidelines and then complete the application form online.
  6. Print the completed application form.
  7. Submit two set of printed application forms at the venue of interview as schedule below.

Warning/Note: Double entry will be disqualified.

  1. Field of Study:
  2. Undergraduate level – engineering, agricultural, sciences, mathematics , languages, environmental sciences, sports, law, social sciences, biotechnology, architecture, Medicine (very limited), etc; and
  3. Postgraduate level – (Master Degree and PhD) in all fields
  4. Criteria for eligibility:
  5. Undergraduate scholarships: All applicant for undergraduate degree course must possess a minimum of five (5) distinction (As and Bs) in the senior secondary school certificate, WAEC (May/June) only in the subject relevant to their field of study including English language and mathematics. Certificate should not be more than two (2) years old (2016/2017). Age limit is from 18 to 20 years.
  6. Postgraduate scholarship: All applicants for postgraduate degree course must hold a first degree with at least second class upper division. The applicant who are previous recipient of foreign award must have completed at least two (2) years post qualification or employment practice in Nigeria. All applicant must have completed NYSC. Age limit is 35 years for Masters and 40 years for PhD and only:

  8. Evidence of readiness to be released by employer.

NOTE: (For all applicants);

  1. Since the Bilatary Education Agreement countries are non English speaking, applicant should be prepared to undertake a mandatory one year foreign language course of the country of choice which will be the standard medium of instruction; and
  2. All applicants for Hungarian scholarships must visit a website: stipendumhungaricum.hu before 15th February 2018.
  • Complete the application form online
  • Print the completed form and bring to interview venue in addition to the 2 above
  1. Venue of Interview: All eligible applicants are to report to interview at the venues scheduled for their respect zones of origin for proper identification. Two sets of completed application forms should be submitted at the various interview centres with the following attachment.
  2. Two sets of photocopies of educational certificates and testimonials of previous schools attained with the original for sighting
  3. Only one certificate is accepted i.e. WAEC of May/June for undergraduate applicant.
  • Two copies of birth certificate from National Population commission
  1. State of origin/LGA certificate dully signed, stamped and dated
  2. Four (4) coloured passport size photograph on white background; and
  3. Postgraduate applicants will be required to submit academic transcript and NYSC discharge or exemption certificates only.
