EEDC is Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, one of the eighteen companies that emerged from Power Holding Company of Nigeria Plc sequel to the on-going Power Sector reform. In Nigeria, 5 out of every 10 homes uses the digital power consumption calculation device, also known the Prepaid Meter. The PHCN prepaid meter can be recharge online at the comfort of your home. Again, you can generate a token online for recharging the prepaid meter anywhere once you have access to internet and then recharge when it is convenient for you at home. You can actually avoid the stress and fatigue of queuing up at the bank or searching for PHCN office to recharge your Prepaid meter by recharging online at the comfort of your home. There are 11 PHCN Electricity distribution companies (and their states coverage) in Nigeria namely:

  1. Enugu Electricity Distribution Company plc (EEDC) covers Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo State
  2. Abuja Electricity Distribution Company plc (AEDC) is network operator for the Federal Capital Territory, Niger State, Kogi State and Nasarawa
  3. Benin Electricity Distribution Company plc (BEDC) covers Edo, Delta, Ondo and Ekiti states
  4. Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) covers southern part of Lagos state and Agbara in Ogun state
  5. Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company plc (IBEDC) cover the largest franchise area in Nigeria, made up of –Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Kwara and parts of Niger, Ekiti and Kogi states
  6. Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company plc (IKEDC)
  7. Jos Electricity Distribution Company plc (JED) covers retail sale in the regions of Plateau, Gombe, Bauchi and Benue States
  8. Kano Electricity Distribution Company plc (KEDCO) covers Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States
  9. Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company plc (KNEDC) franchise Area include Kaduna, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara
  10. Yola Electricity Distribution Company plc (YEDC) franchise Area include Adamawa, Borno, Taraba and Borno state
  11. Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) covers Rivers, Cross River, Akwa-Ibom and Bayelsa

Steps to Recharge EEDC prepaid Meter online

To recharge EEDC prepaid meter online is very simple and easy. Below are steps to generate PHCN EEDC prepaid meter token online and get recharge credit units on your meter to avoid interruption in your power supply.

OPTION A: FOR RECHARGING EEDC PREPAID METER ONLINE VIA ENERGY PAY

  • Connect your Mobile phone or laptop or any other internet enabled device to the internet (Phones are best used).
  • Log onto EEDC website; enugudisco.com and click on Make Payment on the top right-hand side of the page as shown below .

On Enugudisco website; Click on Make Payment

You’ll redirected to https://energypay.myeedc.com/ .

  • Type your Meter Number on the search box display as shown below and click on search button

  • Next, confirm your EEDC account details and previous Arrears

CONFIRM EEDC ACCOUNT DETAILS and previous Arrears

  • Enter the amount to recharge, your email address and phone number  and click on “next” on the page displayed as shown below .

Next page displayed will be You are about to make payment to Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, being payment for Energy usage.

  • Confirm your EED Account detail again and the amount you’re about amount to recharge as shown below; click next.

  • Next, select your Payment option by checking the Debit card option and clicking on “Pay Now” button as shown below

  • Next , enter your bank debit card details  and click on “Pay” as shown below. One Time Password (OTP) will be sent from your bank to your phone or email to confirm the transaction.

  • Enter the OTP sent to your phone number or email address for transaction confirmation and click continue as show below.

Finally, a successful payment page will be displayed.

Your EEDC prepaid meter online Payment successful Message

You’ll receive a confirming e-mail or a text message or both, if your transaction is successful. The meter token will be emailed to your email address and/or phone number.

  • Load the toke on your prepaid meter.

To load it, enter the PIN code (token) generated after payment using the keypad on your prepaid meter monitor unit. After entering the PIN code hit the “enter” button. You can edit the PIN code if you make any mistake using the delete and navigation

Once, you hit “enter” button, you’re done!

OPTION B: FOR RECHARGING EEDC PREPAID METER ONLINE VIA QUICKTELLER

log onto Quickteller website and enter your meter number and amount

  • Next, select debit card to pay  and add the card details, click on “Pay” button
  • Next, one-time password, OTP (security code) will be sent to your phone; enter the OTP to confirm payment.

NOTE: N100 will be charge for this transaction

Paying for your prepaid meter online recharge normally takes less than 5 minutes, and logically, this is the more convenient option for paying for PHCN (NEPA) and it is stress-free. It is definitely more convenient than going out to buy prepaid meter token at their office or banks. Once you have your PIN code, you can go ahead and load it into your Electronic energy prepayment unit (prepaid meter).

Note: for the newest EEDC prepaid meters, you need to plug the monitor unit on power source before you will be able to load the PIN code or token. So, do ensure you don’t let your energy finish before you think of recharge the meter.
