I recently travelled to South Africa for SONA scientific conference. Before I left for South Africa; I have to make all necessary payments patterning my registration for the conference here in Nigeria. I thought of different ways to do this. One easiest way that I finally used to register for the conference was to transfer money from my Nigeria bank account to the foreign bank account number that was sent to me for conference registration payment.
How was I able to transfer money from my Nigeria bank account to this foreign bank account number?
Transfering money from Nigeria Bank account to a foreign bank account is pretty very simple. All you need to do is to open a Domiciliary Account. It is very safe and secured. When it comes to transactions that have to do with sending and receiving of money in Nigeria from oversea or from oversea to Nigeria, domiciliary account is the last bus stop. I tried using my bank current account, western union money transfer and my credit card; they all failed me.
So, for the payment of the SONA Scientific Conference I have to open a GTBank domiciliary account.
How did I open the domiciliary Account?
A week before I travel to South Africa for the scientific conference, I went to GTBank in Enugu for my conference registration payment. I tried to pay with my credit card or do transfer payment via my current account but both failed. The customer service advised me to convert my current account to domiciliary account or rather open a fresh domiciliary account.
Right there at the bank, I was given a form to fill for opening a domiciliary account and alongside asked to provide;
2 references who operate current account (GTBank current holder would be preferable, they said), driving license, international ID card, National ID or voter’s card, utility bill and 2 passport photographs for the complete account opening. I filled the domiciliary account form and two days later, I returned back to the bank to complete the registration. I open three domiciliary at the same time- dollar, euro and pounds domiciliary account that will aid all my foreign transactions in nearby future.
How did I transfer the conference registration fee from my Nigeria domiciliary bank account to the South Africa bank account?
After opening the domiciliary account, I pay in the conference registration fee into the domiciliary account but before I was able to pay in the money into the account; I have to convert it to dollar. Dollar is an international accepted currency. However, Gtbank does not deal on changing currencies; I have to visit First bank of Nigeria plc for the conversion.
Remember, there are still other money changing agents you can visit for this purpose.
From my Nigeria domiciliary dollar account, I transfer the conference registration fee to the South Africa bank. In less than 24hours, they phoned; telling me that my payment has been received.
Four days later, I was at the SONA scientific conference in South Africa.
This is how I transfer my conference registration fee from my domiciliary bank account here in Nigeria to South African Bank account. This is one of the surest easy ways to transfer money from Nigeria Bank to Foreign Bank Account. You can transfer money from Nigeria to Ghana, USA, India, Australia, Dubai, China, Malaysia, Canada, UK ; in fact to any country in the world in the same way and it work well in all cases. It is highly secured. You can also transfer money to Nigerian bank from any country of the world in the way, all you need to do is to pay in the money into your domiciliary account wherever you are in the world, come back to Nigeria and withdraw the money.

Wire transfer to domiciliary account
Hi Emma. Thank you for your good works. How can I get an international money order or a dollar bank draft in Nigeria? I am supposed to complete an application for a US professional exam and the mode of payment acceptable for foreign applicants is either of these two. I have approached gtbank where I have a domiciliary account, I was told they don’t have the services
Such service is not available in Nigeria. Pay them via wire transfer.
Hi Emma is it possible 2 receive money from Nigerian acc to South African acc?any possible ways
Your question is not clear, Nwabisa. Reconstruct, please.
Hello Emma,
If I sent some money to a foreign account through my Nigerian domiciliary account, say on a Friday afternoon, when would the beneficiary be in receipt of it and how do I know that he is already in receipt of it?
Hi Emma. As I read through your post “how to send money from Nigeria to another country I was filled with astonishment at your wealth of knowledge and experience and at how easy it is for you to provide answers to questions within the shortest possible time. Thank you very much for your selflessness. pls tell me
1. What advantage is there in having a First Bank domiciliary account over those of other Banks?
2. If I only had a savings and a domiciliary accounts here in Nigeria but I’m in Canada for a purpose, can I pay for a product through my domiciliary account while still there in Canada?
1. I Prefer GTBank and Diamond bank domiciliary account to Firstbank domiciliary account. So, FirstBank domiciliary account has no advantage over those of other Banks.
2.”Can I pay for a product through my domiciliary account while still there in Canada?” Yes, of-course!
I had a chat with a customer service agent(GTB). It is the fastest way to get adequate info. The lady was helpful and sent me all documents required to open a domicillary account & how to get a dollar naira master card. try this link: http://www.gtbank.com/personal-banking/products/savings-and-investments/smart-kids-save/
Hello, i recently opened a domiciary account with Gtbank…. Say i want to transfer money to Australia, do i have to go to the bank each time i wish to transfer or can i do it using my mobile app(gtbank Mobile App)……(i already have money in the account)
With Diamond bank Domiciliary account, you can do the transfer online but since it GTB; you have to visit the bank each time you want to do transfer.
Great job as I read from the top… speaking of the domiciliary account, can I make use of First bank? if yes!, Q2 – you made mention of going to First Bank to convert naira to dollar earlier at the fourth paragraph … so can anyone in nigeria deposit into my domiciliary account by converting naira to dollar there right in the bank?
*Hat Tip…*
1. If you want open domiciliary account it with diamond bank or GTBank.
2. you can convert naira to dollar in any bank in Nigeria.

Dear Emma,
I think it might really not be necessary to communicate via Whatsapp.
I would be leaving Nigeria for Canada at the end of this month to commence my graduate program in may. I would like to inquire if there could be a means of funding one’s domiciliary account by transferring money from my naira account (maybe through internet banking). I’m a salary earner and my naira account would be credited with my salary. How then can I fund my domiciliary account from my naira account especially if I don’t want anyone handling this for me. I definitely can’t travel down to Nigeria each time I’m paid and need to buy dollars from the black market in order to fund my domiciliary account. Your immediate response would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation
The only means now is to use a third party. This will incur you some charges.
I mean if i want to pay through paypal will it be successful?
That is d problem…in paypal do u think they can credit the company huge sum of amount?
I don’t understand!
Domiciliary account but i will buy dollar from black market before the transfer right?
